    …..bus – two hours – somewhat scenic

You could probably rent a car for the day from National or Hertz and cost won’t be excessive. The drive is usually 3hrs and you can stop to see Montmorency Falls or other local sites.

Via Rail has a train between Montreal and Quebec City. It takes just under 3 hrs. A Corridor one-way trip in Comfort class between Montréal and Québec City costs $49 (Comfort discounted fare, purchase five days in advance, taxes extra) according to their website.

Greyhound Canada (formerly Voyageur Bus Lines) offers a bus service between Montreal and Quebec City, but the trip is about 5 hrs. I have no idea on costs because every time I try to get a fare, their website says “Fares are not available for your schedules.” and this happens on EVERY schedule or route I try to take…I think they do it on purpose :P

Not sure where the other person who answered got their info about a bus ride that takes only 2hrs. When I drove from Quebec City back to Montreal last time, I was on cruise doing 120 km/h (75 mph) and it still took me 2.5 hrs so I don’t see a bus passing me at that speed.

Take the Bus run by Orleans Express, fast and cheap approx 3 1/2 to 4 hours.

Take the bus on the North Shore (through Trois-Rivieres) not the south (through Drummondville). WAY WAY prettier and not a whole lot longer! If you come back after dark you can go through Drummondville.

Bus, every hour (from 5am to 1am i think) from berry-uqam.

And yes, it takes 2 hours if you take the bus at metro-longueuil and land in Sainte-Foy, but for a ”tourist” i recommend to land directly at Gare du Palais, Quebec city downtown, 10 minutes by walk to old city.

By train you land at the same place but it is less regular and more expensive.

And there is also allo-stop, less than 20$ with sympathic strangers: http://allostop.ca/english/default.htm

And, sorry for the dissidence, but the north shore road is long and boring, and trois-rivières stinks (really, paper industry they call it)
